Meet Doechii, the rising star of hip-hop! Born Jaylah Ji’mya Hickmon on August 14, 1998, in sunny Tampa, Florida, she’s been making waves with her infectious sound and vibrant style. This talented rapper and singer has come a long way since her debut EP, Oh the Places You’ll Go, dropped in 2020.

Her big break came thanks to the catchy tune “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake,” which blew up on TikTok in 2021, turning heads and earning her a spot in the music spotlight. Doechii didn’t just stop there; she signed with Top Dawg Entertainment in a joint venture with Capitol Records and released her second EP, She / Her / Black Bitch, in 2022. With her single “What It Is (Block Boy)” featuring Kodak Black hitting the Billboard Hot 100 and snagging platinum certification, it’s safe to say this girl is on fire!

Growing up, Doechii was all about the arts—ballet, cheerleading, acting—you name it! She was even set on becoming a professional choral singer until a friend encouraged her to share her music online. In high school, she started writing poetry and rapping, and by 2016, she was releasing tracks on SoundCloud. Her project Coven Music Session, Vol. 1 followed in 2019, showcasing her unique flair.

Her debut EP Oh the Places You’ll Go was a self-funded gem, blending pop, dance, and hip-hop influences. “Yucky Blucky Fruitcake” not only made waves on TikTok but also captured the attention of record labels, propelling her career into high gear. In 2021, she dropped her second EP, Bra-Less, and teamed up with Isaiah Rashad for “Wat U Sed” on his album The House Is Burning, which she performed live at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Talk about a breakout moment!

In 2022, she made headlines as the first female rapper signed to Top Dawg Entertainment. Her single “Persuasive” marked a new chapter, followed by a music video for “Crazy” that dropped the same year. Her second EP, She / Her / Black Bitch, showcased her dynamic style and was a hit with fans.

Fast forward to 2023, and Doechii was not only performing at the iconic Coachella Festival but also making her acting debut in the drama film *Earth Mama*. And just when you thought she couldn’t get any busier, she released her mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal in August 2024!
